High Five for Friday

High Five for Friday! (Disclaimer: I am high fiving from the last two weeks. :)

#1: First and foremost I am high fiving the fact that although the week started with the flu, it didn't last too long AND I feel great now. Plus, my hubby was seriously my hero while I was sick and got our little pumpkin ready for church all by himself, took her to church all by himself, taught my Sunday School lesson for me extremely last minute and then cooked dinner for his family (which I had committed to do) and took it over to his brother's house. He won major brownie points and really made it easy for me to relax and get the rest I needed so I could get well. A.Mazing.

#2: Pumpkins! Christmas is truly my favorite holiday, but Halloween is a close second and I love carving pumpkins. I try to be creative and do fun characters or go with a great theme. So in honor, I am posting some of my favorites I have created throughout the years in my Halloween recap (look forward to Monday's post).

#3: Trick-or-Treating was awesome. My little girl is 20 months and you just never know how these things will be recieved by little ones. She loved trick-or-treating! It was so fun to take her around and see the excitement on her face. She even got in some, 'trick-or-treats' (we practiced for weeks) and some, 'thank-yous' (at appropriate times even). The weather was perfect, and that is saying something for the Rocky Mountains this time of year. We took our wagon (best. idea. ever.) and since her bucket got heavy and she got tired towards the end, the wagon was the perfect catch-all when we needed it.

#4: Home Sweet Home is coming together and that feels amazing. We are building a new home and recently had our design appointment (SO stressful)! The day of I couldn't sleep and I barely ate because I was so anxious and excited to pick out all of our design elements for our home. But now that is complete and we have agreed on our must-haves, it feels really great and very exciting to be able to look forward to the progress and anticipation of seeing our ideas come together.

#5: Cookies make any day better. Especially my homemade sugar cookies. These are the best sugar cookies. Nice and fluffy but not too soft and crumbly either. I get requests all the time to make my sugar cookies, they have become semi-famous, so I am going to share this amazing recipe with you. You can thank me later, when you have devoured the whole batch of sugar cookies in one sitting. :)

High Five for Friday!

High five! It is Friday and it has been a great week! Here is my count of fantastic things this week that deserve a high five:

#1: I was lucky enough to be able to stock my house full of yummy items from my Bountiful Basket (a fruits and veggies co-op for local grown produce) and Great Harvest Bread Co. And great food options around the house always make me a more pleasant, happy person!

#2: I got to spend Labor Day with my family on Antelope Island and we had a ton of fun. It was exhausting, but it was also an amazing way to spend our Labor Day. Plus, we got to cross off going into the Great Salt Lake on our bucket list which is awesome, because we determined we never want to get close to that bug infested water ever again. See Jane's post from earlier this week - awesomeness!

#3: I got crazy and took some time to try out my nail polish from a polish swap we participated in recently. The polish swap unveil is coming soon... September 17th. So you will have to wait for details, lets just say I am pumped to share with you the awesomess that transpired.

#4: We went to the park for some fun and I got some great photos of my little one, but this pic (above) was by far my favorite. I call it the Peek-A-Boo Park photo. I know I am a little partial to the cutie, but her little face and hands, I just can't get over it. So cute!

#5: I found the steal of the century on Zulily and I am am so excited I found such cute fall boots at such a great price for my little peanut. Adorable boots that are normally $65 for only $14.99 from Fashionable Footprints. The sale on these adorable boots ends Sunday 09/09 at 6am PDT. These are my fav...

Happy Friday!

High Five for Friday!

Photobucket

High five for Friday, because this has been a great week! Five of my highlights:

1. J-O-B
After much anticipation and months and months of job interviews and rejections and offers that came in way too low, my hubs has a new job! Woohoo. We are both so excited and this means much more peace of mind and lots to look forward to in the future! Yeah!

2. Caramel Brownies
There is not a whole lot to say about this one because the name speaks for itself, but let's just say I should have made a couple pans of caramel brownies, because one pan just did not last long enough!

3. Vacuum Bag
Sometimes its the small things that make a big difference in life, and this week a new vacuum bag in my vacuum was like manna from heaven. It doesn't smell musty when I vacuum and I feel like my vacuum transformed into the Dyson 1 million point awesome version because the suction is unreal. Thanks two dollar vacuum bag for transforming my life and carpets this week!

4. Family
We had a family BBQ with extending family which is always fun and I am just super grateful for family in general. My parents are in town for an extended visit and it is so nice seeing them on a regular basis and my little pumpkin just can't get enough of nana and papa. I am loving having Jane 98% closer and we had fun staying up late and catching up on movies. Family rocks!

5. Bountiful Basket
I ordered my Bountiful Basket (after taking a break) - it is a produce co-op and it is amazing. You order your basket for $15 on Monday and Saturday morning you go pick up your 'basket' full of 1/2 veggies and 1/2 fruits (in season and locally grown). You get a ton of produce and its always a surprise what you will get which makes it fun and more of a challenge when planning your menu for the upcoming week. I am super excited to pick up my basket on Saturday morning! www.bountifulbaskets.org

So, that is my high five! Happy Friday and enjoy your nice, long holiday weekend!
