Monday Mayhem

So my sister Lizzy & I share the responsibility of keeping up the blog and I am scheduled to do Mondays. If you take a peek back you can see I have a less than stellar record. I am pretty good at the Wordless Wednesdays and every once and a while I will throw in a Treasury Tuesday, but MONDAYS...oy! So I am making a point of doing my duty.

The good news is that the reason I have been so busy is because I have been working on some custom orders we received last week. The first is for our friend Bonnie over at Paperkeepers. She requested a pair of shoe clips to match a clip we had made for a friends daughter's 7th birthday.

And the second was a for a Bridal Party! I love weddings...when we were younger my sisters & I all wanted to be wedding planners. It seemed like the funnest thing in the world...but it fizzled out as we grew up. Anyway our lovely Bride requested I duplicate one of our designs for all her bridesmaids. Pretty buttercup yellow and tons of tiny silver lined seed beads...now my next project is dropping them all off at the post office, so I better get going...But before I do I wanted to let you all know that we are offering Free Domestic Shipping for all orders in honor of Mother's Day! Use code ILUVMOM now through the 13th!

Friday Favorites: Totally Cherished

It's Friday and I am so looking forward to the weekend (although for a Friday the 13th, it was a pretty great day)! Friday is one of my favorites, so it is fitting that today is Favorite Friday, a day to share something I LOVE with you!

Today's feature is (drumroll please)...

Totally Cherished is an Etsy shop featuring sterling silver handmade jewelry and there is WAY more to this shop than meets the eye. Michelle, the founder tells how the idea to open up shop came about...

The idea behind Totally Cherished was born from being a military wife. I am well accustomed to the highs and lows of having a loved one that works in the forces. One of my favourite highs has always been receiving flowers from my husband whilst he is serving in Afghanistan. But watching them wilt away after a week was hard...and throwing them away even harder!

So, I came up with the idea of creating Totally Cherished: an online boutique selling handmade sterling silver jewellery that will last forever. Initially, I planned to solely focus on providing the military with a new and unique online shop that they could access anywhere in the world, to send beautiful gifts to their friends and family back at home. This is still happening, but after giving my jewellery as gifts to my own friends and family, I was inspired to broaden my reach. With a lot of hard work and a little help from my husband, the ideas I had soon became a reality and now I hope other wives, mums, sisters, daughters and friends can enjoy the excitement of receiving a heartfelt gift from their loved ones.

All of the jewellery you see in my Totally Cherished shop is handmade by me, with love and care, in my small workshop in Wales, UK. I believe that a heartfelt gift should last a lifetime and ensure that each and every piece of my jewellery comes with a 'care for life' guarantee.

Whether you’re buying a keepsake for a loved one, or you are just treating yourself to something special, I hope you will enjoy my jewellery. I am always coming up with new designs, so do pop in to my shop whenever you like to see if something new takes your fancy.

When I read this I was so inspired by such a wonderful cause and delighted that she would share such amazing talents through her beautiful jewelry! What an inspiration! She even gives a discount to those serving or gifting to those in the military! You can learn more on her website http://www.totallycherished.com/ or visit her Etsy shop directly to order!

Thanks Michelle for letting us feature your shop and talents as our Friday Favorite! Have a great weekend everyone!

Upcycle Me!

Today I want to follow-up with you on the Recycled Container Headband Holder Tutorial and give you some other ideas for upcycled containers. What can you do with an upcycled container? Anything. Here are some of my favs.

1
Lanterns - Poke holes in container to make a pattern and put a light/candle inside.

2
Planters - Plant herbs or flowers inside and make a balcony or wall garden.

3
Pencil/Pen/Marker/Colored Pencil/Scissor/Paintbrush/Ruler Holder - Stay organized by keeping like things in a central location.

4
Gift Packaging - Decorate and fill with goodies and presents.

5
Bag Storage - I use my upcycled disinfectant wipes container to store grocery bags so they are not all over the pantry.

6
Vase - Decorate or spray paint containers and use as a vase for around the house or as centerpieces for a party.

7
Toilet Paper Holder - Decorate a container to go with your home decor and use it to hide a toilet paper roll or two and set in the bathroom.

8
Kids - Use as drums or fill with beans or paper clips that make different sounds and let them shake and make noise 'til their hearts content.

9
Makeup Brush Holder - Put some marbles or beads in the container and stick your makeup brushes in the container (handle first) so your brushes have convenient, cute storage on the bathroom counter.

10
Craft Storage - For all the scraps you want to do something with or buttons and beads you collect but have all over the place. Nothing says happiness like organized happiness. :)

I hope that gives you a few ideas to get you started AND we would love to hear your ideas as well!
Happy cycling! - Lizzy

Try Something Tuesday

For those of you who are not aware today is One Day Without Shoes where we are asked to walk a mile in other people's shoes... specifically the children who have none.

WHY SHOES?

- HEALTH -
Millions of children are at risk of injury, disease and soil-transmitted infection.

- EDUCATION -
In some areas, shoes are required for children to attend school.

- OPPORTUNITY -
Children who are healthy are more likely to be successful students.

So today for Try Something Tuesday we are asking you to try NOT wearing shoes...give yourself a pretty pedi if you are feeling self-conscious then go out and flaunt your feet! Blog or Tweet about your experiences...what hazards did you encounter, how did it change your perspective? Take pictures and share them on the official One Day Without Shoes Photowall. And be sure to check out TOMS and their One for One movement!
