Current Crush: Random Awesomeness

Current Crush:
Doing some daydreaming to take a break from school and this is what I have crushing on: as always click the picture to follow the source.

#1 - Wouldn't it be magical to go to Holi in India...not just some american knock-off, although that is pretty fun too.

#2 - Visit the Marble Caves in Patagonia - the whole area is gorgeous, but these take the cake!

#3 - I think I could get away with just wearing a Hoodie to class IF it was Chanel...plus how cute is that!!!

#4 - Love me an arm party, but this one is above and beyond fabulous.

#5 - Awwwww! Aren't they SOOOOO Pretty. They would make pretty much any outfit instantly adorable.

#6 - And speaking of chic, this is the mother of all understated manicures...love it!!!

Wednesday Wisdom : Pedicure Girl

I am sitting here in the Walmart nail salon getting the most amazing pedicure. I have been to upscale spas, nail boutiques, crowded salons in the mall and this is seriously one of the best! It just shows you cannot always judge a book by its cover. Many would probably tell you that because it is located in a super center its going to be sub-par quality and service. But right now I am in heaven & loving every minute and anticipating my next visit.

If you have never had a professional pedicure, do it! It might sound silly, but this hour or two away from the regular mundane tasks of the day will rejuvinate me and be the perfect break I need to be better equipped to be an awesome mom and wife. I know some of you are rolling your eyes, but I really feel that every once in awhile you need to do something for yourself. It doesnt hurt that my my poor preggy legs could use a little love with all the extra weight and work they have to do to compensate for my big belly. So, my question is what do you do to take time for yourself to rejuvinate and refresh and face the day with a little more pep in your step?

Happy Hump Day! Take time today to do something for you!

P.S. I'll post pics of my fabulous spa morning once I'm done.

Polish Swap Unveil

lala Lists
It is finally time to unveil the polishes we sent & received!

Both Lizzy & I participated in the polish swap, here is how it turned out:

Lizzy:

Jane:

Okay here are the gorgeous polishes I  received from Samantha over at Reinvented in Seattle:

Samantha requested "unique" polishes and this is what I came up with...The purple is a magnetic polish that makes a cool pattern when exposed to the magnetic tool in the cap and the olive one is a funky crackle overcoat:

9/11 Good Deeds

So everyone how was your day yesterday? Did you attend any memorials or mark the day with anything special? Hopefully you heard about the 9/11 Tribute Movement, where each person was encouraged to pledge a good deed in honor of the day. All the pledges were combined into a giant digital quilt that you can browse here.

I pledged to donate my afternoon to helping can vegetables for needy families. It was the most physically demanding service opportunity I have ever experienced and I have a new appreciation for anyone who works on an assembly line (not easy!). My shoulders and back were so sore and my feet were aching, but it was well worth it to provide needy families with non-perishable food items and it was extremely rewarding to know I was doing it in honor of those lost in 9/11. It made the three and a half hours of discomfort totally bearable knowing it was for such a great cause!

I pledged to serve my roommates. I washed everyone's dishes, tidied up and vacuumed. It was just something small, but I tried to take every opportunity this week to help people out around me, whether it be helping them with directions, saying thank you or helping them out on a project.  Hopefully we can all work together to make this world a better place, one good deed at a time!

High Five for Friday!

High five! It is Friday and it has been a great week! Here is my count of fantastic things this week that deserve a high five:

#1: I was lucky enough to be able to stock my house full of yummy items from my Bountiful Basket (a fruits and veggies co-op for local grown produce) and Great Harvest Bread Co. And great food options around the house always make me a more pleasant, happy person!

#2: I got to spend Labor Day with my family on Antelope Island and we had a ton of fun. It was exhausting, but it was also an amazing way to spend our Labor Day. Plus, we got to cross off going into the Great Salt Lake on our bucket list which is awesome, because we determined we never want to get close to that bug infested water ever again. See Jane's post from earlier this week - awesomeness!

#3: I got crazy and took some time to try out my nail polish from a polish swap we participated in recently. The polish swap unveil is coming soon... September 17th. So you will have to wait for details, lets just say I am pumped to share with you the awesomess that transpired.

#4: We went to the park for some fun and I got some great photos of my little one, but this pic (above) was by far my favorite. I call it the Peek-A-Boo Park photo. I know I am a little partial to the cutie, but her little face and hands, I just can't get over it. So cute!

#5: I found the steal of the century on Zulily and I am am so excited I found such cute fall boots at such a great price for my little peanut. Adorable boots that are normally $65 for only $14.99 from Fashionable Footprints. The sale on these adorable boots ends Sunday 09/09 at 6am PDT. These are my fav...

Happy Friday!

Current Crush: Peaceful Solitude

So since moving into a dorm, all I have been craving is some peace & quiet. I thought that having a private room would be enough, but the paper-thin walls & my flatmates have shown me the error of my ways.

Aren't they just beautiful!!! Ahhh...I would love to be able to curl up with a good book - hammock, nook...it's all good. Or just chill in my pad like that awesome frog (seriously, how cute is that!). That bath looks like heaven itself - mine is rather cramped and blah. And it would be seriously awesome if I had a chance to catch-up on all your blogs (I miss your awesomeness & creativity and could seriously use your humor right about now!). Anyway hopefully I can find a nice balance soon.

Anyway I hope you will join up with Kristin at The Wright Stuff our new host for this months Current Crush:

Labor Day Picnic!

So for Labor Day, since everybody had off we decided to pack up the family and head off to Antelope Island for a nice picnic. It was a beautiful day, gorgeous sunshine, nice puffy clouds and only minor hiccups, like forgetting plates (Lizzy blames it on the pregnancy brain! Haha). We decided pretty unanimously that the island is pretty, the ranch is a great place to have a picnic and it is super fun to see all the wildlife (We did see lots of birds, antelope and a snake, in addition to buffalo) but the beach is totally worth skipping. The beach is a super long walk through really soft sand (read: not fun!) and then once you get to the water's edge there are gnats galore....dead gnats intermixed with the sand and clouds of gnats that hover over the water in giant clouds...PASS!

Anyway here is the big reunion photo...

Hope you all had an awesome Labor Day!

September is Here!

Happy Labor Day! Can you believe it is September? This is my favorite time of year! I absolutely love fall. I am all ready to make some pumpkin cream cheese muffins (recipe courtesy of Brye Likes to Cook) and sit out on the porch and enjoy a cool breeze!

Jane and I have decided to start a book-of-the-month to go along with the start of a new school year and the book for September is:

THE NIGHT CIRCUS by Erin Morgenstern

I've already dived right into the book and I can tell already that this is going to be filled with imagination, creativity and love! (Some of my favorite things by the way.) So, join us by reading along with our book-of-the-month! We will be sharing plenty of feedback on this month's pick on Friday, September 28th and we would love to hear your comments as well! We will also be announcing the book for October at that time!

School is back in session. Happy reading! -Lizzy
